First Person Radio's Background:

I was 21 years of age, fresh out of college, and I thought I
knew it all. I had watched the sales training videos, read the
marketing books, and I was going to go out and set the world
on fire. This was me, 20 years ago.

My job was to sell advertising to businesses, but more
importantly, get results for those clients. I just knew the
surest way to get great results was using a dramatic, funny, or
creative sounding ad. That'd bring 'em in.

Well, a few months later, and a few "cancelled due to lack of results" contracts later I was pretty down. Then, one of the "old dog" account executives pulled me aside and gave me some advice that would change my career.

He said, "Son, those creative ads are nice, and sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. If you want to get consistent results for your advertisers, let the radio station endorse them. That is the surest way to get results every time."

Sure enough, I began selling personality endorsements to my clients and found that the ones who did it consistently, got much better results than those who didn't.

I continued selling radio for 10 years, was in management for another 6 years, and have consulted with clients who have become friends over the past three years. I started First Person Radio because I really do have a passion for using radio to create business for my customers. Every since my first client called me and told me they had great response from the radio ads, it has been a thrill to continue to help business owners succeed through radio.
